Llandudno is Wales’ largest Victorian seaside resort, with a fantastic location and spectacular period architecture. The premier attraction is the Great Orme, a 2-mile long limestone headland jutting into the Irish Sea. It has been designated as a site of Special Scientific Interest. You can take a train (Great Orme Tramway) or cable car ride (the longest one in Britain) to go to the summit and get breathtaking views all the way to the Snowdonia mountains. Rides depart from the Happy Valley above the pier. The elegant 1877 Victorian pier extends 670 meters into the sea and was once a major point of departure for Isle of Man steamers. The main contemporary art gallery in North Wales is located in llandudno, at the Oriel Mostyn. For more traditional art, you can check out the Llandudno Museum. For kids, a must see attraction is the Alice in Wonderland Center.
