Dartmouth is hard to resist with its brightly colored sailboats and traditional town houses. Its popularity with trendy sailors means there are many boutiques and upmarket restaurants. Here you will find Agatha Christie’s summer home, Greenway, which sits beside the River Dart and is open to the public. You can hike along the Dart Valley Trail or sail upriver on the Greenway Ferry. Coleton Fishacre was built in the 1920s for the D’Oyly Carte family of theater actors who also owned London’s Savoy Hotel. You can hike there along the cliffs for 4 miles from Kingswear. Dartmouth Castle at the mouth of the estuary is great for panoramic views of the area.
