The Flambards experience is a family-owned, family-run and family-friendly theme park, that can be found in the town of Helston, at the outskirts of Cornwall. Originally called 'Cornwall Aircraft Park', Flambards was founded in 1976 by Douglas Hale MBE (who was in the Royal Navy) and his wife Audrey. The parks name was changed to 'Flambards' because several air-crafts that were used in the TV series of the same name, were put on display at the park, which is now run by Douglas and Audrey's son, James Hale.
The theme park quickly became one of the most popular visitor attractions in the South West, pulling in 76,000 visitors in its first season alone! The park has expanded and improved over the years, and now not only does it have its own mascot (Ferdi Flambard the fox), but also offers live entertainment from widely-loved children's characters from The Simpsons, Peter Pan, Snoopy and more!
There really is something for all members of the family at The Flambards Experience - from the pedal-powered Cyclocopters for the kids, to Extreme Force and Thunderbolt for the thrill seekers, to the family-friendly Carousel. There is also an area dedicated to particularly young children, with rides such as the Human Cannonball and Pirate Ship, as well as a garden, an aviary and multiple play areas.
Several new rides have been added over recent years, and the park is aiming to add one new ride a year, to expand its repertoire and entice more visitors. It was recently announced that the theme park is up for sale, but the current owners are looking to sell to someone who wishes to continue the theme park and keep it in business.
