Abergavenny is located just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park, and is a natural base for exploring the surrounding hills with its range of facilities. Not the most instantly attractive town, it is a place worth getting to know. Abergavenny was traditionally best known as a place for outdoor pursuits in the Vale of Usk and is today building a growing reputation as a cycling center. But it has really come into its own as the capital of a burgeoning food scene. Its position at the heart of Wales’ lauded cuisine scene, which celebrates the best in fresh and organic produce, is generating international interest in both the Food Festival and acclaimed local eateries. Abergavenny is also the main train hub for visiting the Brecon Beacons National Park.
