Peebles is a charming town set amidst rolling hills with a nice river. The River Tweed is famous for its trout fishing, and outdoor enthusiasts enjoy not only fishing but also walking through the wooded hills on a variety of short trails. There are several good walks around town, including the John Buchan Way to Broughton which is 13 miles. It is an easy walk to Neidpath Castle, a 14th century tower on a bluff above the River Tweed about 1 mile west of town. One of the town’s other attractions is the Tweeddale Museum and Art Gallery, a small museum dedicated to literature.
