Gairloch is a popular summer vacation spot with lots of places to stay and family friendly activities. The tourist office has information on local walks. Gairloch Heritage Museum tells of life in the western Highlands and includes a typical crafting cottage. Gairloch Trekking Centre offers pony treks in the vast grounds of a local estate. Six miles north, the subtropical Inverewe Garden uses Gulf Stream warmth to grown Mediterranean and Japanese plants. The Old Inn is a historic inn nestled by the river and a lovely old bridge, and an ideal spot to stay. The rooms are comfortable and the meals are excellent, and the rates are affordable during the low season.
